Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question: What are Dura-Gold 8" Gold PSA Sanding Discs primarily used for?

Answer: Dura-Gold 8" Gold PSA Sanding Discs are widely used for sanding and smoothing surfaces such as wood, metal, and drywall. The 60 grit is particularly effective for aggressive material removal, making it ideal for initial sanding tasks or prepping surfaces for finishing. This heavy-duty abrasive is designed to handle tough jobs, allowing users to achieve a smooth finish quickly. Whether you're a professional contractor or a DIY enthusiast, these discs can significantly enhance your project efficiency.
  • Question: How do I attach Dura-Gold PSA Sanding Discs to my sander?

Answer: Attaching Dura-Gold PSA Sanding Discs is straightforward due to their self-adhesive backing. Simply peel the protective layer off the disc, align it with the sanding plate of your sander, and press it down firmly. This secure attachment prevents slippage during use, allowing for consistent performance. It's perfect for both orbital sanders and rotary sanders, ensuring that you can switch discs quickly without fuss, maximizing your productivity.
  • Question: Can Dura-Gold sanding discs be used on wet surfaces?

Answer: Dura-Gold sanding discs are not designed for wet sanding as they are made with abrasive materials that can degrade when exposed to moisture. Using them on wet surfaces can negatively affect performance and lead to premature wear. For wet sanding tasks, consider using specific wet/dry sandpaper designed to handle moisture without breaking down. Always ensure to choose the correct type of disc based on your sanding application for optimal results.
  • Question: What materials can I use the 60 grit sanding discs on?

Answer: The 60 grit Dura-Gold sanding discs are designed to work effectively on various materials, including hardwood, softwood, metal, plastic, and fiberglass. They are perfect for initial sanding stages to remove paint, varnish, or rough edges. If you're tackling a woodworking project or preparing metal surfaces for painting, these discs offer the right balance of coarseness needed for quick material removal while maintaining surface integrity. Always start with lighter grits after this coarse sanding for a finer finish.
  • Question: Are Dura-Gold sanding discs effective for auto body repair?

Answer: Yes, Dura-Gold sanding discs are highly effective for auto body repair tasks. The 60 grit is specifically useful for stripping paint, smoothing body fillers, and prepping surfaces for primer. Their aggressive cutting action makes them suitable for heavy-duty applications often encountered in automotive work. Body shop professionals often prefer these discs for their durability and performance, allowing for efficient work on various automotive surfaces.
  • Question: How many discs come in a box, and what is their size?

Answer: Each box of Dura-Gold sanding discs includes 10 pieces, each measuring 8 inches in diameter. This size is compatible with a variety of random orbital sanders, making it versatile for different sanding needs. With a box of 10, users can work on multiple projects or use them in a sequence without the need for frequent replacement, providing great value for both professional and casual users alike.
  • Question: Do Dura-Gold sanding discs clog easily?

Answer: Dura-Gold sanding discs are designed to resist clogging due to their high-quality manufacturing process. The open-coat design allows for efficient dust extraction during sanding, which helps maintain performance and prolongs the life of the disc. For optimal performance, regularly clean your sanding work area and adjust your technique based on the material being sanded. This will help prevent buildup and ensure a smoother sanding experience.
  • Question: Can I use these discs for detail sanding?

Answer: While Dura-Gold 8" Gold PSA Sanding Discs are primarily intended for larger surfaces, they can also be used for detailed sanding if the sander has been adjusted for precision work. However, for intricate areas, it may be more effective to use smaller sanding pads or specialized detail sanding tools. This way, you can achieve improved control without sacrificing the quality of your finish.
